I have had experience tutoring math as a senior in highschool. Now that I have earned my degree in Biomedical Engineering, I believe I can be an even greater math tutor. I graduated cum laude, and engineering is my pation. I plan to go to dental school, so my premed track can help me tutor more than just math if students need any help with biology or chemistry. I have also volunteered in many research laboratories focusing mainly on cancer research, so I have a lot of experience with the experimental process. I loved helping students boost their grades when I tutored math in high school, and I am excited for the opportunity to tutor again. I have experience with coding in Matlab and C. I am proficient at using Solidworks to create three dimentional models. I also experience with flow cytometry and western blot lab methods.
I love learning new things, and sharing what I have learned with the people I meet. It is a very unique experience when you finally figure out how to solve a problem you have been struggling with. It is an even better experience when you get to help others figure out the same problem.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before anything, I like to get to know the student I am working with. I like to spend just a few moments to break the ice before jumping into what assignments and subjects we need to work on.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Biomedical Engineer and I have been working with higher level math for years. I also graduated from the Premedicine track, so I have experience with chemistry and biology as well. I have taken the DAT exam needed to apply to dental school, and my math score was in the 99th percentile.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do not have a standart pricing system for my lessons yet. I am more than willing to sort out a reasonable price based on each individual session.
How did you get started teaching?
I volunteered as a tutor at Milles E. Godwin High School during my senior year in 2015. I loved meeting new students and helping them improve their grades.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students, from those who were willing to sit down and get through their work to those who tried ignoring me and refused to work on their assignments. Whatever the case I have managed to get through to my students and help them understand the material.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently had a small get together for halloween, with three or four of my close friends. One of the friends I invited was actually a freshman I tutored when I was a senior in high school. More than anything I love meeting and making friends with new people.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure to look into the teacher's experiences outside of education. Some people I have worked with in my field have graduated with fantastic grades, but lacked the analytical experience they needed to excel in the field.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
All you need to do is sort out what subjects you are struggling with, and what assignments give you the most trouble. For example, in high school I had trouble with reading and writing classes, but I was a good test taker. The issue that tripped me up was with turning in all my homework assignments. Find out whether you need help with completing assignments, with test taking strategies, or with both.
