Mrs. Leighty is always so friendly and eager to help. She is very flexible with times around sports/commitments which was super great with my busy schedule. Before I went to her I was really struggling in AP Calc and had a low B in the class, and then after meeting weekly over the course of a few months, I got my grade up to an A with her help. I cant recommend her enough; she is AMAZING and the sweetest and most knowledgeable tutor I couldve asked for.

I first started teaching in 1973 right out of college, but took a sabbatical to raise my children for about 7 years.  I got back into teaching in 1984, and taught in a variety of settings from then until 2013.  I have experience teaching Middle School, High School, College (Undergraduate), and Graduate School, as well as doing staff development with teachers.

I have worked with students of all ability levels, from special needs students through gifted and talented students.  I have an endorsement in Gifted Education.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, and do your best to make a connection with the tutor.  IF you don't like the tutor or dont understand what they are telling you, then it is time to find another tutor.

For math, it is important for the student to do their best to figure out what it is that they don't understand.  To tell someone you don't understand without providing more specifics is difficult for a tutor to work with.  Do you understand what the problem is asking for, or what the procedures for solving are, or do you understand the underlying concepts?  The more insight you can provide the better the tutor can serve your needs.
