Kayla Taica

Hello, my name is Kayla Taica, and I am a current college student with a passion for education and youth which is a long way of saying my long-term goal in life is to become a teacher! I understand that one may be hesitant to accept tutoring from someone as young as myself, but I hope I may shift your perspective with my knowledge and experience.

Despite being early into my education career, I have spent a lot of time building on my teaching skills. In high school, I was a swim instructor and manager for 1 year working with kids ages 0-17 years! Continuing on that path, I have been a teacher's aide for three separate classrooms: a special education high school English class, a middle school advanced pre-algebra class, and a high school English class. I hope to work in many more classrooms in these next few years.

As for my own knowledge, I have always thrived in the classroom as a result of my passion for learning. That is why I am truly stuck between teaching math or English! I took all AP English classes in high school, and I successfully scored a 5 on every AP exam. In math, I was able to skip a level, so I have always been a year ahead. I especially enjoy Algebra style mathematics.

My goal as a tutor is to provide the individualized education that every student deserves but may not receive in a traditional classroom. I hope to shift the perspective of students struggling in class and those who overvalue their intelligence. It is a difficult job because it is such a sensitive balance to motivate people to do well in school but not so much that they don't value their person. Learning can be fun for everyone no matter who they are. I will always try to be as adaptable to all learning styles, levels, and interests.
