About
Being able to empower my students with the most amount of knowledge possible and watching them grow in their knowledge and understanding of the physical universe.
I currently own and run my own virtual tutoring service called Black Queen Math Geek LLC instagram.com/blackqueenmathgeekllc and have successfully helped my students garner GPAs of 3.9 on average and increase SAT scores by at least 200 points.
I've been working in this field for 5 years now and have had hundreds of students. My passion lies in the ability to educate students in a manner that is coherent and beneficial to them, but also fun enough for them to enjoy the process.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We usually start with an initial zoom call where i introduce myself, discuss my background, and we can talk about what we are both expecting from the tutoring sessions. Then we decide on a regular schedule and schedule the first session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been in this field for over 5 years and since then have been independently contracted through one of the biggest virtual tutoring companies in the country, I was also a program director and lead instructor for a tutoring service in Rockville Maryland for about a year before deciding to venture off and open my own company.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$45/hr for personalized one on one sessions with a special 5% discount for hourly packages purchased above 12, so 12 hours is $513 rather than 540. The maximum hours that can be purchased at once will be 30 hours with a special 10% discount for all 30 hour packages purchased ($1,215 rather than $1,350).
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring in high school because my math teachers would always suggest to underclassmen that I would be an excellent tutor if they needed help. This created and pushed my love for education and my desire to be the best I can for my students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students as young as kindergarten all the way to college students. My students are usually in need of help in Math, English, French, Spanish, economics, or essay writing.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Pay close attention to how a tutor's students' respond to his/her teaching methods. Advanced degrees do not necessarily mean a better tutor; I've had to fire tutor with masters degrees and hire community college students in their place because they had the personality, drive, AND knowledge to better help the students.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much personal study time am I doing to improve myself?
What kind of learner am I? And how does that translate to my understanding of the topics at hand?
