Jack McCarthy
About
Hi, I’m Jack, an accomplished multi-subject tutor. A current student at the College of William & Mary, I study with concentrations in history, sociology, and computer science. I have also excelled in high-level courses across other fields like calculus, chemistry, biology, and Latin. Possessing over 50 hours experience as a private tutor, I have helped students in topics ranging from calculus to history, chemistry to Latin, and more. I also have teaching experience from high school, where I spent two years as a Latin tutor and one year as a marching band instructor.
When tutoring, I am patient and empathetic, encouraging students to keep trying even when they experience difficulties. I also establish common ground with my students. As someone with recent experience navigating the advanced courses of today, I better understand the challenges students face and how to overcome them. Additionally, I provide my students with detailed and constructive feedback that addresses the underlying causes of their mistakes and extends beyond what is covered in their curricula. But most importantly of all, I have a true passion for both the subject matter I cover and the art of teaching itself. My energy and enthusiasm impress upon my students, which pushes them to develop their own appreciation for the subject matter and gives them the motivation they need to succeed.
Throughout my time as a tutor, I have received great praise and positive feedback from my students. I have led clients of diverse needs and circumstances to success, because I create a unique tutoring plan for each student that is tailored to how they learn best. My past efficacy, combined with my comprehensive experience as both a student and teacher of various subjects, gives me confidence that I am a good fit for tutoring you as well.
