English Rocks Tutoring
About
Hello, my name is Emma and I look forward to tutoring you. You might have not guessed, but one of my favorite subjects is English! My goal for each and everyone of my students is for them to feel comfortable while learning a new curriculum. I never want a student to feel rushed or frustrated, so I make sure that we work at your pace, while still achieving each of your goals! In addition, while working with the student I see what best learning styles (verbal, written, or visual) works best for you!
Pridometley I shine with the younger age groups! I have volunteered at a local business helping kids ages 5-15 on english, and math skills. In addition, I have worked with up to 19 students of 19 with english skills, and organization skills. I am still currently enrolled in highschool (12th grade). I have taken higher level courses, including college classes. Even though I still have one year to go I have always had a passion for learning and have taken the highest level english course that has been available to me!
I can't wait to meet my new students and work with you and your families!
One of the most exciting things to see is seeing the smile on a student's face when they have accomplished a new skill! That is why I find the passion to help others, even if not getting paid, at least I can do the most to help! I have always loved teaching and working with others!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing I do with a new student is to get to know them on an individual level, as well as their schedule. I take into account if there are any extra curricular activities, sports, etc.. Then from there I like to chat with the parent/ and or guardian to see what are the goals that need to be achieved and lay out a time frame. I also check to see if there is school work or any other work that needs to be completed. From there, I will quiz the student on the subject they are working on to set a baseline on where the student is at. Depending on that is where I go from there. Due to the fluctuation of each student, I will set up a plan and discuss with the parent/ and or guardian.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The only previous job I have had was in customer service, where I learned how to communicate with others. I have done voluntary work with different local programs as well as students at a higher level where I worked to improve organization skills and basic english skills.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Due to not meeting in person, and only communicating via video call my standard price starts at $8 per hour. I do not supply computer, paper, writing utensils, or any other necessities, that is why I set it at that price. However, if there are any issues, I am more than welcome to negotiate.
How did you get started teaching?
The first time I tutored someone was a friend of a friend who was two years older than me. I really enjoyed the process, so that is where I started volunteering. Then, I wanted it to blossom into something more, and here I am today!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with ages 5-19. However, I do prefer younger ages (5-14) because I feel that I work best with the curriculum being provided.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently tutored a family friend, and we were working on accomplishing the students goal. The individual was working on it for over two weeks, and finally mastered the achievement! It was so exciting to go through the process with them!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that the teacher is working with your schedule, not there's. A teacher should always make sure the student is confident and comfortable as possible when learning new skills. In addition, it is important for the teacher to have full attention to the student, and nothing else!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
When it comes down to the needs of a student they should never feel afraid to ask questions to the teacher. We are here to help you, not the other way around.
