Teresa's Tutoring
About
I am a certified teacher who has homeschooled my five children for over 20 years, taught in public and private schools and tutored as well. My training and experience allow me to be able to meet a variety of needs for students and families. I love working with students helping them to become confident in an area where they are struggling. I also have a TESOL certification and have worked with ESL students in a classroom setting as well as online. I am eager to meet new students and families.
I love seeing the "light come on" when an area of struggle becomes understood!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before I meet with a new student, I first find out what the parent's concerns are regarding their child's needs. When I meet with the student, I assess where they are struggling and begin addressing those areas to increase confidence and proficiency.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Finding a clear and patient teacher to help is key. Sometimes explanations need to be explained more than once and in different ways until a student grasps the concept being worked on. This requires patience and creativity from the teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
It is helpful for students to try and be as specific as they can about what they need. For example: instead of saying "I can't do math," they could say "I don't know how to multiply fractions" etc. That helps us get right to work on the issue.
