About

I am a veteran teacher who has worked and lived in Charles County for 37 years. I am very familiar with the state standards and testing, which currently include the parcc test. Have tutored in the past and have gain the respect a both parents and student. I walk a student through examples and the give him other questions to try so that mastery is theirs.

Ever since I was little I wanted to be a teacher. Although in today's society it can be a very thankless thing, it is my own personal passion just drive to help a student learn.

Frequently asked questions

When I initially meet a student I would like to assess where they are currently at. Since many teachers move at a different pace it would be helpful for students to bring a notebook or past papers with them so I am able to see where the help should be directed. On a weekly basis will help students either through their homework by having them do alternate problems first and then their homework problem on their own or review skills and offer tricks and memory techniques to take ownership of new material. Lastly if the classroom teacher is willing, I like to prep student for upcoming material so that when they see it in the classroom it would be a refresher

I have a bachelor's in math education and a master's in curriculum instruction. I have taught in Charles County for all of the 37 years of my career. In that tenure year, I have taught almost every class except calculus that is in the High School curriculum. Algebra is my passion

As far as pricing, it will be based upon location and time. If a student is to come to Charles County and or lives in Charles County there will be less travel time on my part. If a student lives out of the county and I must travel to them travel time will be taken into consideration.

I know it was long time ago, I have always wanted to be a teacher. I grew up in Pennsylvania and upon completion of my bachelor's moved to Waldorf in 1981. It was a rural, growing community and I I've been here long enough to see it grow into what I consider the suburb of today. When I came to Charles County, I was fresh out of College.

My certification is 7th through 12th grade. When I first started teaching High School general math and consumer math we're still part of the curriculum. Although I'm not certified to teach elementary school I feel if necessary I know enough of the basics to help build a foundation.

I feel one of the biggest things a student needs to Think Through is their personal work ethic. Having spent time in the classroom and with the onset of all social media, I find more and more students do their work by this platform and when they are tested or quizzed have a very poor aptitude for a particular topic. Learning math is like the hard burn you get after a workout at the gym. You are sore and tired but reap the rewards. Math at times can make your brain sore and tired but if you exercise it, your brain will absorb and you will reap the benefits when it comes time to grades.
