About

Hello! I am currently a math major, minoring in Secondary STEM education at the University of Texas at Dallas. I have a passion for math and helping others learn! I have aced all of my high school and college math courses from Algebra 1 all through AP Calculus BC, as well as other advanced courses. When it comes to spelling, my experience comes from participating in spelling bees through out middle school, where I finished 2nd at the school bee in 7th grade, moving onto the regional and tying for 3rd. In the 8th grade I finished 1st at the school, 1st at regional and participated in the LISD district bee. I certainly have a passion for spelling! I started out tutoring informally, but I am now an experienced tutor having worked with students from elementary to college. I have been tutoring since November of 2018, based in The Colony, Texas.

I truly enjoy working with kids and helping them understand, or teaching them something new. There is nothing quite like a breakthrough!

Frequently asked questions

Usually before the first meeting, the parent of the student will tell me the situation that required finding a tutor. For example, missing homeworks that need to be completed, an upcoming test, or overall improvement. In the first meeting, I like to get to know the student a bit and let them tell me what their situation is, how they are feeling about it, why they think they're struggling and how they think I can help them. If the student has something they'd like to work on, we will work on it then. From there, at the end of the meeting, I will let the parent know what I think would be the best plan of action as far as frequency of meeting and the plan of action going forward.

I have completed my Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and am currently in my semester of Student Teaching before graduating from UTD. Because of this, I am gaining insight on how students learn best as well as different teaching strategies. Apart from formal education in teaching, I have taken a lot of math classes over the years and excelled in them. I have been tutoring students for almost 4 years now in math. I have even assisted teaching a college level multivariable calculus course for a couple of semesters. I am well equipped to do what I do.

My pricing does vary based on the level of math we will be working on and whether we will be meeting online or in person.

My general pricing is as follows:

Online fees:

Middle School: $30/hr

High School: $40/hr

College (includes AP courses): $50/hr

Standardized Test Prep: $50/hr

In-person fees:

Middle School: $45/hr

High School: $60/hr

College: $80/hr

Standardized Test Prep: $70/hr

I have always loved teaching, especially in my extracurricular activities. One day in 2018, on a local Facebook group, someone needed a tutor and I simply reached out. I loved my first tutoring experience and have continued with it since! I have even pursued a teaching certification in secondary mathematics because of it.

I have worked with elementary school kids as young as 3rd grade going through middle school, high school, and up to college. I am best equipped to work with middle school through college level students, as well as adults.

Look for someone who is patient! In my personal experience as a student, a teacher who tries to rush through material and doesn't encourage questions is one who is setting you up for failure. If your teacher makes you feel like you can't learn the material, they aren't the right one for you.

Ask yourself this:

1) What exactly is it that I am struggling with?

2) How is my class structured now, and what part of that is holding me back?

These questions should help you identify where you are lacking, and therefore what you need to be supplemented in order to succeed.
