I am a recent college graduate who majored in Psychology, but I have always had a love for English. I believe in the power of the written word and the importance of clear and concise writing. I would love to help you formulate your thoughts, edit grammar, and (most importantly) be proud of your own writing!
I am also well versed in math (specifically algebra and statistics) and Psychology.
I have several years worth of experience working in tutoring as a teacher at an after-school center, tutoring college and high school age students on my own, as well as working through a nanny/tutor service tutoring students of various ages.
I have taken several years of college-level English classes, including AP English (English Literature & Language and Compisition) while in high school as well as writing classes in college. I have also excelled in my AP Statistics and Pre-Ap Algebra courses in high school, as well as multiple courses in Psychology, Statistics, and Sociology at the college undergraduate level.
I also received an academic, need based full-ride scholarship to attend a 4 year university. I received this based on my success in my high school AP level courses and continued this achievement by completing my degree Magna Cum Laude.
I enjoy working with students of all ages, from elementary to college level. I have a passion for education and its ability to transform the lives of those who are taught in such a way that will impact their education for life. I love sharing my joy for learning, and my goal is that each student I come into contact with will by impacted by this love and excitement for knowledge. Each student is different and will learn in their own way, and my tutoring methods are based around this fact.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with asking you what your goals are and what you wish to achieve through tutoring. From there we outline the steps to achieve those goals in a manner that is feasible for both tutor and student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took several AP classes in high school as well as college courses in various areas of study (Psychology, English, Statistics, Algebra), all of which I received an excelling grade in, but most importantly developed a lasting understanding of.
I have tutored across all ages through an after-school center, nanny/tutor services, and on my own with clients of all ages.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching professionally as a high school student in after-school centers, knowing I had a deep love for learning and wanted to share this with students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide variety of students of all ages. My students come from all walks of life (religion, culture, etc.). The level of education each student begins with is not as important as the end goal - a genuine understanding of each subject I tutor in.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my students received a grade much higher than they expected on an assignment after I had thoroughly edited the final product. They had previously been receiving less than satisfactory grades on their previous papers, but this was usually due to grammar or awkward wording. It was rewarding to see that they were pleased with the work I had done, but also to know that they could feel proud and accomplished by their work.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the teacher you are searching for is willing to listen to your ideas and what your goals are through receiving tutoring. Ensure they are guiding you in the right direction and not simply doing the work themselves. You should feel comfortable in the fact that your teacher is aiding you in reaching your true potential.
