LM

Ms. Martin babysat and tutored my three kids for two summers. She was so helpful and happy to see the kids. My girls loved every minute she was there! We occasionally have her over throughout the school year to help the kids with math and English as my husband and I are busy at work. She always had a smile on her face and is ready to work!

Frequently asked questions

I think that it is crucial to create a safe environment where my students feel comfortable talking to me. I like to get to know them so I usually spend some time asking about their hobbies, favorite books, movies, sports, etc. Then we talk about what school subjects they feel confident in and what areas they want to improve on. My goal is to lessen their workload and build their learning skills so that they are successful in their educational career.
I'm currently a sophomore at UTD majoring in neuroscience with a minor in child psychology. I currently maintain a 4.0 GPA and volunteer at various elementary and middle schools during the week. I worked at Barnes and Noble for two years where I hosted various children's events and reading activities. I currently work as a part-time nanny for two elementary-aged kids where I aid and progress their learning.

I started tutoring my peers all throughout middle and high school, and I spent my summers volunteering at summer school. I love working with kids so I often looked for working positions where I could positively impact children.
As someone with ADHD, I am well-versed in teaching students who struggle to focus. I often include brain breaks throughout our sessions and find ways to keep students interested in their schoolwork.
I have a handful of students who I have worked with for many years, and I occasionally will meet them whenever they need help. I recently met with an 8th-grade student who was writing a final essay. We were able to compare an essay from one of our first sessions to his most recent one, and he was pleasantly surprised at how much his writing improved. This is one of my favorite things about tutoring, looking at how much someone has progressed!
Look for someone who you feel comfortable with. Remember that teachers aren't judging you or your work, we genuinely want you to succeed and feel confident in your skills.
