Ms. Craig's Amazing Math Tutoring
About
I was a middle school math teacher for nearly 3 years when my father began to experience health issues and I decided to resign from teaching in a classroom in order to stay closer to home.
My students used to love my math tutoring sessions - not just because I would bribe them with candy and pizza lol, but also because my tutoring was tailor-made for their needs and I try to use a variety of tools to help students succeed and have fun while learning.
Also music is one of my passions and I have a degree in Recording Arts as well, so I can teach students about recording equipment and offer piano, organ and synthesizer lessons.
I do love teaching and helping kids to have that lightbulb moment - especially when it comes to what's considered a "harder" subject like math. I like giving students confidence and problem solving skills, because a lot of math is really about thinking critically and sometimes there's more than one way to arrive at the correct answer.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Try to find their strong areas and emphasize those. If I see a problem area, trying to pinpoint the reasons why they struggle in that area then build from there. Purposeful repetition with guidance goes a long way.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Just under 3 years of classroom teaching experience and a certification in Math 4-8
For my musical experience I have 15+ years as a professional musician and a degree in Recording Arts, as well as some major song placements.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is more so based on time and travel. So if it takes longer for me to travel there I may add an additional $10 for travel and gas. Base rate is $30
How did you get started teaching?
My sister encouraged me to apply! I've always liked math, science and school in general but I never realized how much I liked helping and working with kids until I became a teacher.
What types of students have you worked with?
All kinds! I learned that sometimes a "bad" kid is really just a student that needs a teacher they can relate to or someone who is willing to relate to them - many students just need someone to give them a chance to be their best selves.
