While having the experience of tutoring cousins, siblings, and friends for a number of years and helping them learn to love math and english, I also recognize that having a plan for the student to understand the basics of the lesson is always the key to success. In addition, I graduated with a 3.8 GPA in my high school and was in the top 10 percent of my class. Math has always been my favorite subject! I am here to not only provide simplicity in understanding, but to also have the student have confidence in their ability to ace their homework and their exams. i believe everyone has the potential to get outstanding grades and to pass the course with flying colors! Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Working with a new student is always a joy. For me, I always like to assess where the students are at, where they feel they are confident at, and where they are currently struggling. I try to engage with them to see the problems they have and how we can tackle the problem and succeed at it. Every student is different, but it is always rewarding to see them be happy when the problem is solved.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have tutored countless friends, cousins, and my sisters in mathematics as well as other subjects like English and History. While dealing with all my loved ones, I learned that everyone has their own way of learning, and it's always great to have patience and understanding with the student. With my education, I graduated with a 3.8 GPA at my high school and in the top 10% of my class.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I currently do not! However, I am always accommdating to what the student needs and for how long they require tutoring for a specific lesson. With that in mind, I am available to negotiate the prices and the time frame :)
How did you get started teaching?
It was really out of the blue to be honest. An old professor of mine asked me one day if I could spend a bit of time after school helping one of my classmates. They were very grateful over the help, and by the time the semester ended, she passed with flying colors! I started to think maybe I could help others as well, and so here I am :).
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with several different types of students. Different grade levels, different ages. The process to working with each student is different, but it's always the same when it comes to understanding and applying the concepts to solving the problem. Each student will go at their own pace, and that's why I love teaching students and help them get on the correct path to solving the problem.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
There are so many to remember of! But the experience for me that always sticks with me is when my students get the right answer and understand the concept. Their joy always stays with me because I know they will continue to love learning inside and outside the classroom.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would tell my students to always pick a teacher you are comfortable with and to also pick a teacher that knows their stuff. A teacher that doesn't give up on you, and a teacher that is passionate to motivate others to succeed :)
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The students should always clarify what they understand in the lesson with full confidence for the teacher to get a good sense of where they are at. Afterwards, they should inform the teacher over their concerns about problems that arise when working on a problem. I feel dissecting the problem can lead to asking very helpful questions that can lead the student to understand and succeed and apply them when the exam comes.
