About
I love seeing students succeed! Most recently, a current student of mine made a 34 (out of 36) on their most recent ACT score. She initially was scoring in the mid 20s on practice exams when I met her, but has now achieved her highest score. Knowing that students are taking the steps they need to either get to college or start a career is something I particularly enjoy about tutoring.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With any new student, I first like to understand their learning style and what particular topics they are stuggling with. Once I have a better understanding of this, I will create lessons that are tailored to their needs and continue helping them with their school material.I will also follow up by giving them weekly or biweekly quizzes over any new content learned to ensure they are retaining the information. With math particularly, most students need lots of repition. However, each student is different, so I will work to make sure each person is learning at a comfortable pace and retaining information.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from UNT with a BS in mathematics and a 3.7 GPA. As a junior at UNT, I was a teaching assistant and taught elementary statistics to new incoming students. I also worked in the school's math lab, where I tutored other college students from college algebra to pre-calculus. Later, I also worked at Sylvan Learning Center with a great group of teachers for about 2 years. Since then, I have been private tutoring students, primarily in high school, but also younger students in middle school as well.
How did you get started teaching?
I initially had an interest in teaching at UNT where I was studying mathematics. UNT has a program, Teach North Texas (TNT), that is specialized for students wanting to become teachers. While in this program, I was able to student teach elementary and middle school students in the Mckinney area while also learing how to plan engaging lessons.
Later, as a teaching assistant for a UNT statistics professor, I was able to work directly with college students in lower level math classes and teach a statistics course.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages, from Pre-K up to college. I have some experience working with students with Down syndrome. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
