What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I assess where they are at in the learning curve. I find the gaps and then create lessons to fill them. The lessons always promote student's esteem.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I initially studied at Purdue University, earning a degree in Liberal Arts, minors in English and psychology. I then started teacher education at UCCS, working with Dr. Swayby, an incredible reading teacher. Meanwhile, I took tons of writing classes at PPCC on soccer scholarship. I then finished my credential at Cal State as I was hired to teach on an emergency credential in 2000. Later, I earned a Master's Degree in education at Eastern WA U while I taught at Spokane College of English Language. Since then, I have continued to teach a variety of subjects, from math to science to language arts. I am currently teaching online for 10th graders.
