Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We connect first to get to know each other, assess your level, and develop a plan to meet your Spanish needs.
We will then hold classes as often as you like, reassessing periodically if we have met our goals and if there are any new ones that we should plan for.
The goal of tutoring is for the student to reach a point to feel confident to do the work on their own, and that is what we will strive for!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language, for which I completed a semester of study abroad in Mexico. I visited Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras several times during my college years. I then went on to teach high school Spanish in the US. I later moved to Spain, where I now reside with my Spanish husband and live in a Spanish-speaking community, teaching English and working in tourism!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
1 Hour = 20 USD
How did you get started teaching?
I tutored students in university in lower level Spanish classes! I developed a passion for teaching Spanish to others during that time.
What types of students have you worked with?
Every age! I've worked mostly with high schoolers, but I have also worked with primary and middle school ages, as well as adults.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My beautiful son, Jacob, is learning to walk, and is doing so well!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Native doesn't always equal teacher! Many people don't realize that natives have never had to "learn" their own language, so it is hard for them to understand some concepts that new language learners have to grasp.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What about the material is causing you to struggle? Are there other classes that you excel in where we could implement the same study or learning tools?
