Elementary ELA & Math
About
Lastetrius, known by her students as Ms. Lala, absolutely loves working with children. She has experience with children in elementary school, as well as early childhood. During the school year last year she worked with the organization City Year to bring struggling 3rd and 4th graders up to grade level and beyond with ELA and math skills. This experience increased Ms. Lala’s passion for education, and she truly enjoys encouraging children to be their best. She believes that every child is capable of achieving their goals with consistent motivation and strong effort. Her approach is both structured and thorough, while at the same time fun. She likes for her students to demonstrate what they have learned, so she can give them insight on their progress, as she believes learners thrive on encouragement and development.
Lastetrius received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Georgia State University and her Associate’s Degree in Social Work from Middle Georgia State College. She has indulged in plenty of outside learning courses and resources in trauma and behavior management. Although most of her experience tutoring involves elementary school-aged children, her experience with early childhood helps her have a well-rounded understanding of childhood development when working with students. She also has experience in mentorship with young children through her work at Girls Inc, and really enjoys connecting with participants at these special event and activities. In her free time, she loves to listen to music, learn anything that keeps her creativity thriving, and spend time with her loved ones.
