About
English and writing have been a constant in my life as long as I can remember. My father, an English teacher for over forty years, instilled a passion the craft that has only grown with time. I have an BFA in English, with a minor in Creative Writing, from Virginia Commonwealth University and have earned a TESOL certificate from INTESOL Worldwide. I have also taught creative writing workshops for both adults and teenagers since 2016. I have used my own writing in various applications, from obtaining $37,000 in grant funding for nonprofits in FY 2017-2018 to covering festivals for music websites. I have also had my work shown at London Zine Fest and am currently finishing a travelogue of my experiences in the Post-Soviet states this past summer.
Language is a means of communication. As both a traveller and writer I find a distinct joy in being able to empathize, converse, and share a laugh with someone different than myself. In teaching others to better communicate and express themselves I too am able to learn from them. I believe it is a great benefit to both myself and the world at large for everyone to be able to communicate their story.
