About
My passion lies in enabling young adults to see themselves in the universals that are in every piece of literature whether it be prose, poetry, short story or even medieval lit. Building empathy and compassion and connections as we read characters that relate to the reader and their world.
I have experience teaching a wide variety of students. I have taught in urban education, suburban public schools and private schools. I tutor students who struggle with developing their skills as they enter high school in 9th grade to 12th grade AP courses.
I try to enable students to see and connect with the universals in all literature so no matrter what they are reading they can make connections to their own lives and struggles. This developes understanding, empathy and compassion which is sorely missing in today's society.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Initially I will typically find out exactly what the student is struggling with. Sometimes it might seem like comprehension is the issue when in fact it is close reading skills that are lacking.
Then once we have assessed that, then we can get down to business.
