About
Hi! I'm a graduate in Physics from Rutgers Universtiy where I taught Physics Labs 1 and 2 as well as assisted in Instructional Physics Lab demonstrations for 3+ years. I then went on to get my Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering where I was a TA for multiple undergraduate mechanics and materials engineering classes. I have a significant background in teaching and tutoring my classmates, peers, and friends who needed help in the field throughout undergraduate and graduate school. Usually for compensation but occasionally just to help my fellow Physics and Math lovers. I currently work in Flight Controls at Boeing in Philadelphia, but I am looking to make a little extra money on the side to help with my student loans. I always fancied myself a teacher and although I did not opt to take the academic route I still would love to bring the exciting and fascinating world of higher level math and science to my potential students! Happy to help with all ages up through undergraduate students and open to online or travel oreinted tutoring. Math and Science can sometimes be daunting subjects, but with the right help they can be as interesting and fun as any class! I am happy to write up lesson plans that go along with the coursework, or simply go through homework problems to work through issues the student may be having. I always found science and math so interesting and powerful. I really try to bring that engery to my students and it gives me such great joy to foster the same level of passion in them that I acheived from my AP Physics teacher in highschool. The world could always use more scientists to help fix our many problems, and it would be incredible if I could set the foundation for a future one!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first would have a talk with the student or parent in order to guage thier goals for the tutoring lessons. For example are they trying to pass a specific class, brush up on summer learning prior to the beginning of a semester or school year, or prepare for a different goal such as college or the SATs. I then generally have a look at the recent lessons they have been going through in their schoolwork. If this is a tutoring request that does not go along with a specific course then I would begin writing a lesson plan appropriate to the students goals. Additionally I would supplement the teaching with worksheets and short quizzes to test the students knowledge (for learning purposes only of course haha).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
- Bachelors degree in physics from Rutgers where I taught Physics 1 & 2 labs, as well as tutored fellow undergrads through the schools learning center
- Masters degree from University of Pennsylvania in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering where I was a TA for mechanics and engineering math classes and held office hours to tutor and prepare students for their HW assignments and exams
- Flight Controls Aerospace engineer at Boeing
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Usually I price $50 per hour for standard tutoring. Negotiations can be made for additional requirements.
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring in college as a part time job and have been continuing since my undergraduate studies as both a means of income and a way to help young students find intrest in math, science, and engineering!
What types of students have you worked with?
Middle school, high school, and undergraduate students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I'm a big fan of the NBA and sports in general. Additionally I love space, science, and technology. I ski, golf, play tennis, and also love a good book (happy to give some recommendations). My music preferences are also fairly varied and love a good conversation in regards to taste.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hire somebody that you feel comfortable talking with. If you don't trust the tutor, you won't be willing to ask questions or admit when you do not understand something. This is critical to bridging the knowledge gap in a subject.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about where they are in terms of understanding the subect (know nothing, know something and want to improve, ect.), then set some goals for where they would like to be in the short term (say a month) and then maybe more long term like a year. Additionally it would be nice to know why they want to get better in the subject area. Do you want to persue this as a career or are you just trying to get through your core requirements (either is fine!)
