What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First I find out when the student started finding math difficult so I can anticipate where they may need the most help. Then we will complete a short diagnostic just to see where their understanding falls short. We will then work on the most basic skill necessary for them to be at their math grade level.

$30 per hour for online

$35 per hour to meet in a public space

$40 per hour for at-home visits

How did you get started teaching?

I got started teaching by being selected for the prestigous Teach for America in 2010. That same year, I started my Masters degree program at University of Pennsylvania

What types of students have you worked with?

I worked with students 4th - 12th grade mostly from Philadelphia. I have 3 years experience teaching ESL classes with students who spoke Spanish, French, Arabic and Vietamese.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I am also a performing poet and I very fond of creating events dedicated to the arts. I often host and attend open mics and art shows.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Choose a teacher that communicates the way you need and be sure to say when you do not understand things
