Cortney's College And Graduate Prep
About
With over 10 years of experience in academia, I have been a long-time student, tutor and mentor. I enjoy working one on one with my students and feel personally accountable for their success. I plan to continue to tutor until August 2019, when I will be beginning my Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience.
I most enjoy the moments when I am able to explain or demonstrate something in a way that finally makes the material "click", and it is especially rewarding when those moments lead to a drastic grade improvement.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every student and subject is different. I will first ask my students to provide me their course schedules, then we will work to gather to create goals for the end of the semester and short-term goals for the next few weeks. After the end of each session I will ask the student for feedback. Did we focus on what he/she felt was important? Did we go over something that didn't make sense? etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in academia for over 10 years. As a student myself and a tutor for my fellow peers, I have gained expertise in test preparation, critical thinking, mathematical reasoning and writing. I have taken extensive courses in statistical reasoning, neuroscience, writing (scientific and creative) and have recently excelled in my graduate entrance exams, general records examinations (GREs) in all three subsections: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Analytical Writing.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
This will depend largely on the subject matter and schedule.
