About
Hello! My name is Mateya and I've been a self-employed tutor for the past four years. As a tutor, my primary focus is to help communicate and break down difficult concepts in a way that allows students greater accessibility and comprehension to their course material. I excel in most categories especially Math and English. I love helping others develop a sense of personal confidence and curosity, and I'm looking forward to the chance to work with you! Feel free to reach out anytime.
School has always been a stressful challenge and I enjoy alleviating that stress and helping you or your child strive to your fullest academic potential.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process when working with a student varies by their needs. Usually I ask what the student wants and we do what is comfortable. I am able to facetime on any app including Whatsapp, Zoom, Snapchat, or Google Meet. I ask for the content to be sent to me via text or email before our session or if your school provides you with an online platform I ask for accessibility. Honestly, I am here to help you to the best of my abilities. My process involves us sitting down and setting up a plan that works for both of us.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an educational background in almost every subject. I have more experience with Math (Up to Algebra/Trignometry III) and English (College Level).
In highschool I graduated a year in advance with distinguished honors and I was a chair member on the National Honors Society committee. I speak and have a basic understanding with multiple languages like Spanish, Italian, Mandarin, French and American Sign Language.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My price varies by the needs of my students. We can discuss a price range that is suitable to you, I am very reasonable and willing to accomodate.
How did you get started teaching?
I started out babysitting and being a part-time care provider. I've taken care of children ever since I can remember at babysitting facilities, within my own home, and now online.
As people started to notice my academic accomplishments I had classmates ask for help and request my services for their younger siblings. I had family friends contact me and from there I discovered how fun and rewarding it was to help others.
What types of students have you worked with?
Within the four years of my teaching career I've worked considerably in the special education field. I have taught diverse groups of students with developmental, behavioral, and intellectual disabilities. I have also worked with both native and nonnative English-speaking students of all ages. I've truly appreciated and learned from every child and every family I have worked with. The skills I've acquired from teaching allow me to meet the needs of every student.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I appreciate every day I get to help others. One of the highlights of my day is logging on with a student and making them laugh or asking them how their day is.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The advice I would give is to come motivated and willing to work. You might not come to me completely confident in your skills but you will leave confident. I am here to help not judge so give it your best.
