About
I possess a passion for life-long learning, sharing knowledge, fostering intellectual, social, and emotional growth. I continually monitor and adapt my tutoring practices in order to address each client's rate, level and learning style.
I work almost exclusively with clients who have ADHD and/or are in a online school program like BYU's Independent Study, k12 Stride or FLVS.
My goal is to help clients increase confidence & skills, so they can build on it and advocate for their own education now and in the future. As they build those skills I will help them advocate for their 504s
As a home Instructor, I tutor in person and virtually with students 5-20 hours a week in all subjects they are enrolled in through a distance learning or home school program.. I partner with students (and parents) to determine goals and a schedule. Then, I offer additional instruction for difficult lessons, help with assignments, keep students accountable for deadlines, and coaching in study skills/time management.
As an ADHD Coach, I help clients find processes that work for their brain. It is a non-judgmental partnership to find strategies to help you achieve your goals. I partner with students and parents to determine goals and a schedule. My goal is to reduce the family involvement and stress required for clients to successfully navigate their courses by focusing on accountability and self advocacy. This leads to an increased self esteem. Additionally, I help students with 504 Plans obtain equal access to an education by teaching them to navigate the counseling, accommodations, and customer service departments.
I also work with children and adults trying to find success beyond school by forming effective strategies to address challenges and better manage their lives.
No mater the task, I teach organizational and executive functioning skills they can use for each circumstance we are focusing on and help them understand related requirements and expectations. Together we find useful tools and resources as well as develop structure, skills, and action plans to tackle any goals or tasks where ADHD symptoms increased difficulty.
My favorite hobbies are paddle boarding, softball, walks on the beach, board games and reading to my children.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I start working with a new student I like to talk with that student or their parent prior to the first session. This free consultation give us a chance to talk about student needs, history, and expectations as well as interests. Due to the pandemic I am tutoring online only, typically through Zoom. When students are not working from a text, I like to have the problems you want to work on emailed to me 24 hours prior to the session; so I can be an efficient tutor and create supplemental problems if needed.

How did you get started teaching?
Growing up with a grade school teacher mother taught me to value life-long learning and understand how teaching to others deepens your understanding of a topic. Some of my fodest memories as a child were playing with math manipulatives. I graded my first math paper as a first grader using blocks to undersand division. Once I found out I could do this as a job I was hooked!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with slow processing, ADHD, 504/IEP students, and students who became anxious with just the mention of math or a spreadsheet. Additionally took a training in multisensory math.
My clients are predominantly teens and adults with ADHD.
