About
I'm a licensed teacher with a passion for sharing my love of reading, writing, and history! I am endorsed to teach secondary English Language Arts and Soial Studies, and I love to work with students to find out what they need the most support with to help them grow and succeed. I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching, and a Bachelor's degree in History with minors in Literature and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I have participated in teaching fellowships with students who will become first generation college graduates, and am currently working with a before and after school program for elementary age students.
I have always loved working with people to help them learn something new. There's just something about the look on someone's face when they finally understand something that makes me smile. I enjoy learning each student's strengths, and areas where they need to spend more time to grow. Every person has places where they shine and skills that need more attention and practice, and I look forward to working with you/your student to achieve their goals!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It depends on the student! To begin with, it's important to get a feeling for what specifically you as the student (or student's parent) want to be addressed. Do you just need homework help? Regularly, or just for this one assignment? Did your teacher explain something that went right over your head? Is a paper due for a high school or college class that you need some help editing? Is there a skill that just needs some more practice?
Once we've established what specifically you want to cover, we can start by going over what you were given by your teacher or professor. This allows us to see what you really need to work on, and lets me identify how I can help you specifically. Then I can develop activities that will help you grow in your abilities, or to turn in the best paper/assignment that you can.
