I have worked as a college professor for the last four years and have taught at both Universities and community colleges. Some colleges I have worked at include: San Diego State University, Washington State University, and a variety of community colleges in San Diego & the PNW.
Throughout my time as a professor, I have always tutored through the colleges' tutoring programs and I realized my passion for one-on-one work. I do not get as much time as I would like one-on-one with my students, even though every single student would benefit from having assistance from their teachers.
Particuarly during the pandemic, I realized the extent of students who need extra help with their writing and reading. Therefore, I decided to open my own tutoring business: KP Writing and Co. Although I am still in the works of fully opening, I have had multiple clients so far that have received my services, particularly in college acceptance letters.
I look forward to helping more students in whatever realm of English, Writing, and Reading that they need.
I really enjoyed this tutor. She was my favorite tutor, and I always looked forward to attending our meetings. I was skeptical at first, concerned that I would not learn or obtain as much knowledge that I would have liked. However, this tutor exceeded my expectations. I believe that my writing skills have significantly improved. I would strongly recommend
Before beginning our first session, I take note of my student's current standing with writing. We discuss how you currently perceive yourself as a writer, your goals, and your main concerns. We will also revisit this discussion throughout our time tutoring to ensure that you both feel that your goals are being achieved and that your writing skills are improving overall.
I have a Master of Arts in English from San Diego State University. In addition, I have received multiple trainings from the colleges and Universities I have worked at in the last four years. This includes: reading, teaching online, writing for transfer, and reflective processes.
I charge $35 an hour or $50 for two hours in a consecutive session. In addition, every 10th session is free of charge.
I have always been passionate about becoming a teacher and began teaching during my graduate program at San Diego State University. Since then, I have taught at both Universities and community colleges. Some classes include: Introduction to College English, Intermediate College Composition, Rhetoric & Writing Studies, American Literature, and College Preparation English.
Due to my time as both a professor and tutor, I have worked with a variety of students. I have tutored students with disabilites, ESL, high school students, and students returning to school after time off.
