About
For writing alone: I give a lot of feedback and use many different exercises. I like to give different prompts and encourage making mistakes and asking questions. I know that articulating your thoughts can sometimes be extremely difficult, so my main goal is to help my students better understand how to put their thoughts onto their page.
For English language: I love incorporating speaking exercises in order to help implement natural conversation. I aim to teach my students that making mistakes is important and that learning from those mistakes is even more important. I want my students to feel comfortable and to learn in a way that works for them.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want us to get to know each other and then we can discuss individual goals. What do you want to get out of it? How can I help you? What do you want to improve on? I also want to get to know my student a little better. I want us to feel comfortable so that as we move forward, I can help structure individualized lessons to help each individual student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have experience tutoring my peers in high school for the past 3 years. I have also worked as a tutor in an AP English writing class and have helped other friends who struggle with writing.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always had a love for writing and one day a friend of mine asked me to edit her essay. I provided her with many different forms of feedback in order to help her improve. From then on, I have helped her as well as many other friends improve their prose and ability to formulate good essays.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mainly high school and middle school students, a few college students, and some English second language students who needed help making their writing sound more natural and fluent.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that you feel comfortable. Find someone who fits with your personalities and goals and go from there! You won't click with everyone, and that's okay. Figure out what your goals are, and then continue your search to find someone who can help you reach those goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you want to get out of your lessons? Why is this important to you?
Is your goal to improve in school, find more pleasure in the task, or simply feel more confident?
