And have been tutoring virtually for the past 2 years.

I love watching children learn. There is something called the ‘Lightbulb Moment'. It is that moment where everything seems to just click, and they understand! From teaching 3- and 4-years olds to begin to read to then watch them progress throughout their academic life is a priceless experience.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I host meet and greet sessions with students for appoximatly 20-30 minutes. This gives both the student and myself an opportnuity to ask questions and talk about goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
* I have a BA in Primary Education.
* NVQ in Child Physchology
* Certificate in Teaching Phonics
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30 - 1:1 - 45 min sessions
$20 per student in group sessions - Minimum 4 students, Max 9 students - 60 minute sessions
$15 per student in group sessions - Minimum 10 students, Max 20 students - 60 minute sessions
How did you get started teaching?
When my eldest turned 3 and began to learn how to read, I became more interested in teaching. I went back to college and got my degree in Primary Education. I have been teaching ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
Primarily children aged 4 - 11.
I have also worked with older children who have IEP in place.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In the wake of the pandemic, many people have been forced to become teachers. This for me gave me a chance to homeschool and teach in a sliently more freeing way.
I am a bubbly person and believe children should be encouraged and praised for their learning not solely driven by targets and paperwork.
I have enjoyed being at home and teaching more and more remotely.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you have a meet and greet session first. You want to make sure that that whomever you hire is a good fit for either yourself or your child and in some cases both!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Write out exactly what you want from the sessions.
What are your long term goals?
How often do you want the lessons?
What days and times?
Is there a specific area you want to learn more about?
Is there a specific area you are struggling to understand?
