I love watching children learn. There is something called the ‘Lightbulb Moment'. It is that moment where everything seems to just click, and they understand! From teaching 3- and 4-years olds to begin to read to then watch them progress throughout their academic life is a priceless experience.

    Times tables! Ah what a nightmare. My 10 year old son just couldn’t memorize them. He sat with Maura for 45 min once a week for 2 months and knows them all. She would assign him homework, it was all themed around race cars. He looked forward to her homework. He is now doing division with her once a week.
    Thank you!
    I can’t recommend her enough!

    Laura helped my daughter learn to blend. She’s 5 and was really struggling. She took a 6 week class, twice a week, plus homework with Laura. She is now able to read and blend her words more accurately. Laura spent a good 30 minutes getting to know her and created material around her likes!

    Once a week Spanish lessons with Laura are fun, engaging and interactive. My son is learning so much, he actually enjoys the homework she sets.

    Laura was is amazing!
    My son is diagnosed with ADHD and has an IEP in place. During his virtual lesson with her, he is engaged and he remains focused. We have combo lessons twice a week with Laura. The combo lessons is a blend of phonics, reading and Math.
    I highly recommend Laura!

    Laura conducted a 6 week beginner course in Spanish for my daughter who was 8. We had planned on going on holiday to Spain and my daughter wanted to learn some basic Spanish. She was great! Patient and created a 6 week course purely focused on my daughters love of animals.
    We will certainly hire Laura again if my daughter wishes to continue learning Spanish.
    Thank you!

    Frequently asked questions

    I host meet and greet sessions with students for appoximatly 20-30 minutes. This gives both the student and myself an opportnuity to ask questions and talk about goals.

    * I have a BA in Primary Education.

    * NVQ in Child Physchology

    * Certificate in Teaching Phonics

    $30 - 1:1 - 45 min sessions

    $20 per student in group sessions - Minimum 4 students, Max 9 students - 60 minute sessions

    $15 per student in group sessions - Minimum 10 students, Max 20 students - 60 minute sessions

    When my eldest turned 3 and began to learn how to read, I became more interested in teaching. I went back to college and got my degree in Primary Education. I have been teaching ever since.

    Primarily children aged 4 - 11.

    I have also worked with older children who have IEP in place.

    In the wake of the pandemic, many people have been forced to become teachers. This for me gave me a chance to homeschool and teach in a sliently more freeing way.

    I am a bubbly person and believe children should be encouraged and praised for their learning not solely driven by targets and paperwork.

    I have enjoyed being at home and teaching more and more remotely.

    Make sure you have a meet and greet session first. You want to make sure that that whomever you hire is a good fit for either yourself or your child and in some cases both!

    Write out exactly what you want from the sessions.

    What are your long term goals?

    How often do you want the lessons?

    What days and times?

    Is there a specific area you want to learn more about?

    Is there a specific area you are struggling to understand?
