About

Hello! I'm Eric. I'm a professional educator with over six years of tutoring experience. I'm a former high school science teacher and, most recently, was an education director in New York City. I have also been a test prep tutor (primarily the ACT and SAT) for the last two years. My tutoring style is relationship-based. I strive to get to know students and tailor a tutoring program specifically for them. The tutoring environment I create is a space where students can feel relaxed, challenged, and free to make mistakes (dare I say have fun?).

In the past two years, I've focused on ACT and SAT test prep. I have found that a rigorous program of mock testing, homework, and one-on-one lessons yields the biggest improvement in scores and confidence. My work with students has yielded an average composite ACT increase of 3-4 points and an average increase of around 150 points on the new SAT.

While I never guarantee a certain score or result, I can guarantee that I'll work hard to get to know you as a student and do everything in my power to help you succeed. I expect my students to work just as hard!

I hope to work with you soon!

I love working WITH students and parents. I find that when tutor, student, and parent are collaborating we can achieve results that all parties are happy with. I enjoy seeing students take ownership of their studies and do things they didn't think were possible. Make no mistake. I will challenge each and every student that works with me. Everything is achieved through hard work and effort. But helping students see that that hard work pays off is amazing.

Frequently asked questions

Here are a couple of questions I ask prospective students:

-Why are you looking for a tutor?

-What are your academic strengths? Areas of improvement?

-What are your goals? What does success look like for you?

-What are your learning preferences?

From there, we can craft a tailored study plan that works for you!

I have over 10+ year working in education. I'm a certified teacher (secondary science) with three years of teaching and over years of professional tutoring. For the past two-and-a-half years, I've focused my tutoring on ACT and SAT test prep.

40/hour for general tutoring (math/science/homework help)

50/hour for test prep (ACT/SAT)

I jumped into the classroom in 2009 because I wanted to help students excel academically. 10 years later, I feel more passionately about now than I did then!

I generally work with students between 6th and 12th grades. I'm generally comfortable with all subjects but specialize in math and science. Test prep students are usually 10th-12th graders.

I've worked with a wide array of students from all different backgrounds and academic levels.
