About
I am a spirited person and love working with young people. My passions include ceramics, skiing and traveling, all of which help me make learning math creative and fun. I began working with children at the age of thirteen, in 1989, and continue to do so to this day. I tutored throughout college in Oregon and Arizona. I graduated with a BA in Art and endorsements in middle school math and art education. I taught, as well as developed the curriculum for, middle school math, art and computers in China after college graduation. I was a ceramics instructor at Taos Clay for 4 years. I coached soccer at Taos High School for 2 years. I have also instructed private skiing lessons to people of all ages over the years.
I enjoy seeing the sense of accomplishment in my students when they learn something new and to see their excitement when they perform a task well. I also appreciate being around young people and viewing the world through their perspective.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I find out a little about their personal history. Then I figure out what level of math they are on currently by having them do some quick math problems. Then we begin tackling their obstacles in math.
