About

I am a published author, with four years of experience in editing and publishing, and a lifetime of writing. Over the last decade, I have consistently been inside the classroom as a private school assistant, reading coach, and working with challenging kids.

I've led small groups of kids and developed curriculums to meet the needs of the group environment. My main focus is on youth and family development, guest speaking, leading workshops on writing, and personal growth.

I've worked with all ages and stages of childhood, on into the teen years, and enjoy finding where kids excel and where they struggle most. Finding balance and not aiming for perfection, leads to personal success.

I have coached teenaged babysitters, led youth volunteer groups, and partnered closely with teachers to help every child find joy in learning. I would love to meet your family and see how I can help your child succeed.

I struggled in school and I recall the key teachers who helped me gain a love for learning. I also have three different and dynamic kids who remind me that nobody learns the same.

Educators strive to meet the needs of every student but it's challenging in large classrooms. The best part of my day is when I see someone's lightbulb turn on and it clicks for them.

I also must confess that kids often teach me more than I teach them. Their honest nature and ability to adapt in various circumstances is something adults could surely learn from.

It's a joy and a privilege to speak positive notes into the life of another, and I am thankful that I have had that in my life, and it is time to pass that on to others.

I always dreamed of writing and teaching high school English, but before I could finish my teaching credential, I started a family. I took the knowledge I had and applied it to raising my kids and helping in their preschools and classrooms.

My joy for teaching grew into leading a babysitting group, small groups at a church in San Diego, CA;  and helping run a summer camp. I started a mom's group which grew from four to over forty women, where we encouraged one another and shared parenting advice. I became a youth leader and advised over 20 youth volunteers, 10 adult volunteers, and 100 kids; every weekend.

My family moved to Australia and I continued helping in my children's classrooms while leading workshops for young writers. This is where I wrote and published my first book, for middle school readers. I continued to lead small groups of kids and work with the most challenging of students. I also served as President of the Shoalhaven Readers Writers Festival, which aimed to bring quality literature and authors to a low-socioeconomic region of Australia, thus inspiring a new generation of readers and writers.

Our family returned to the U.S. in June 2020, and while I complete the second book in the series I am currently writing, I would love to coach students and help them grow in their understanding of writing and literture.

Magical things happen when we open a book and understanding past and present thinkers. We step outside ourselves, gaining wisdom and tolerance for others. Basic knowledge of English and writing skills will take the next generation to new heights, and I would love to influence those skills.
