About

I am a compassionate and enthusiastic licensed math teacher with over 16 years of experience working with students. Tutoring is a powerful way for your child to build the skills and self-confidence necessary for success in math. I specialize in math tutoring for middle school, high school, and college students. Also available for general homework support, time management, project assistance, and more. I have extensive training in various methods of teaching math concepts. When I work with students, I want students to "see" why math works, rather than memorize a bunch of arbitrary rules. I find this promotes the best long-term retention of material. Most importantly, I am approachable, enthusiastic, and compassionate. Daytime and evening hours available.

I love seeing students confidence grow over time. It is magical to see students feel empowered to improve and grow.

My daughter has been working with Christina for the past eleven months. My daughter was good at math, but the challenges of a heavy high school class load were too much for her. She received her first B in high school. It was in an accelerated Algebra II class her sophomore year. Afterward, we hired Christina. She has received As in math every since. My daughter has stated that one hour per week with Christina replaced hours of studying and trying to understand it by herself. And those hours she spent studying, prior to Christina, came with frustration and poor grades. We have since hired Christina for another daughter. She has shown great improvement as well.

Christina is one of the kindest, patient, caring people I’ve ever met! She has been helping my daughter with Math tutoring for about a year. My daughter loves her and looks forward to her sessions - even during the summer, in order to maintain the momentum and skills being taught. I trust Christina, I know she wants students to succeed, and she truly has my daughters best interest at heart.

Christina has been amazing! Our daughters stress level disappeared after their first session. We started with her last October with Geometry and have continued through the summer and will do so for the upcoming school year. Her instruction is detailed, well organized and speaks the math language that my daughter understands. In addition, as a very busy mom, I appreciate Christinas initiative in communications and planning ahead. She has also been so gracious in accommodating our schedule when our daughter needs extra sessions. We are so appreciative of her expertise and professionalism! Our daughters math experience and grades would have been completely different if not for Christinas valuable instruction!

I began tutoring younger students when I was in high school. Ironically, I began tutoring through the recommendation of a tutor that I had been working with myself! She wasn't able to take on new clients, so she recommended me to help this younger student in need. I was flattered but felt completely unworthy and incapable. How could I, a student who needed a tutor myself, be abe to help others? My tutor convinced me I was qualified, and she was right! She believed in me and saw my potential to be a teacher. I fell in love with helping kids learn math. From there, I coninued to work with students in various settings. I went on to major in math in college and earn my teaching credential. Every job I've had since high school has been focused on helping others learn.

I have worked with elementary students through adults, with an emphasis in middle and high school. I have been trained in the Lindamood-Bell programs and have worked with many students with learning disabilities, dyslexia, and autism, teaching both math and reading.

The most important thing is to feel comfortable with the tutor. Find someone whom you feel you can ask questions to without feeling embarassed. It can be scary to admit when you don't understand, but it is an important skill. It will be easier with some people than others. Find someone you feel comfortable with!
