I love helping students reach that "Ah-ha" moment with their work! As someone who has taught grades k-9, I am an adaptable teacher and willing to work with you wherever you are. I have a major in English literature with a biological science minor so I am educationally well rounded. I tutored at a tutoring center in Alabama for a year. I was able to tutor all ages and subject varieties (English, math, science, ACT prep). I student taught at Uncommon schools in new york summer of 2020 teaching freshman biology through zoom which was an amazing experience. Currently, I double as an 8th grade reading teacher as well as an Elementary librarian. In the library, we practice phonics, sight words, reading comprehension, and a general understanding of what we read. As someone who needed tutoring in high school, I know what needs to go into asking for help. I love teaching, and would love the opportunity to help you grow as a student.
I have 2 and half years of teaching/tutoring experience behind me in various subject areas. Elementary math, high school science, ACT prep, middle school English, the works. Getting the chance to hang out with different kinds of kids, get to know them, and help them learn to love learning brings me an immense amount of joy. I currently work at Spring Valley Academy and getting to spend my day with kindergarten all the way up to 8th graders is such a wonderful and rewarding experience. I pour my heart into everything I do, so you can be confident that I will pour my heart into your education.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first session will be a great opportunity for us to get to know each other. I will spend that hour working through whatever assignment you have, as well as asking questions about your current schooling. Do you like school? What part of learning this specific subject is hard? Is there any part of this subject that you do enjoy? What is your goal with school/class/test?

A bachelor's degree in English Literature with a minor in Biological Sciences from Oakwood University
