Many are struggling with math. Are you one of them? Let me help you understand Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Basic Math, College Algebra, Developmental Algebra, Elementary Algebra, and Elementary Math. If you are interested in my tutoring service, don't hesitate to contact me.
Mathematics is my passion. Everything we do in our everyday lives is math connected. I enjoy helping people improve their math skills. Once you get the concepts everything else comes naturally. When I was a junior in high school I was already taking college math level at Sinclair. And during my free time, I’d help my highschool classmates who were struggling in math. Soon after I graduated, I joined the marine corps, and I volunteered to tutor k12 students on our base in Camp Pendleton. I just recently separated from the service and going to get my bachelors degree in electrical engineering (sophomore @ Wright state University).

My name is Garrett Sargent and my passion is to inspire the next generation of engineers through teaching and mentoring. I feel this is best accomplished by one-on-one interactions with students who feel like they are not equipped to pursue their dreams in a STEM field. I specialize in engineering design, math, and computer science.
Previously, I have held a mentoring position with the University of Dayton Vision Lab where I led a team of undergraduate students to publish novel research to IEEE conference on computational intelligence in Hawaii. The research was on a brain machine interface, where we focused on converting brain waves to

I simply listen to my tutees as they explain their way through problem solving. Doing so helps me gain an understanding of how they are processing the concepts so I can better meet their learning needs. I have been told by students, tutees, and their parents that I have a gift for explaining difficult concepts in a manner that is more understandable.
I have been a certified teacher for 8 years for grades 4-9 in math and science. I have taught 5th, 7th and 8th grade math and science. I have been tutoring for 6 years for grades 1-10 in all subject areas, study skills and test prep. I price my sessions based on frequency, travel and topic. I employ various instructional methods to work with students one on one to ensure accessibility and retention of content.

I work well with kids and young adults. I am very flexible with my hours and transportation. I have went to college for biological sciences and am currently in an online school for veterinary medicine so I have many experiences with science courses. Math, English, and science are my best subjects. I have done many peer reviews and edits on English papers and have even done one-on-one study groups.
I deeply understand that nurturing interests is a prerequisite for comprehension. I would always find the most creative and useful teaching methods to spark interest, even if it means that I am teaching them very differently from how I was taught.
I enjoy working one on one with students to help them explore and understand math and science concepts that they may find challenging. I love breaking things down to help students understand what they are doing along side of learning how to do it. I have been turtoring and teaching math and science for over 7 years. I’ve worked with elementary aged kids all the way through adults in college. My work has mainly been in the Springfield area both working privately and in a Montessori classroom. I am equipped to work with all ages, learning styles, as well as supporting students with any specific special needs.
