About

I have been learning about and using math and science a lot throughout my bachelor's and master's degree in chemical engineering. To be able to apply to the different classes and problems I have encountered, I had to really understand the subjects and learn lots of different ways to apply them. Therefore, I am able to vary my explanations and approaches to solving a problem until they really make sense to your student. I will take as much time as needed to make sure your student really understands the topics we are working on, as that is the most important part about my job as a tutor.

Frequently asked questions

First I try to get to know the student a little bit and ask about their preferences in school and outside. Then, I typically ask them to explain the topic/problem to gauge the students level of knowledge as well as understand their thought process. I think, especially when it comes to math and science related topics, it is very important to have a teacher/tutor that is flexible with their own thought process and explanations and can adapt them to the individual student.

I earned my B.S. in chemical engineering with a minor in mechanical engineering from Miami University (OH) in 2019, and followed that up with a M.S. in chemical and process engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 2022. Now, I am currently applying to different chemical engineering PhD programs.

Throughout my bachelor and master programs, I learned a lot about chemistry and math, and how to apply them in areas such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, etc.

$25-$50 per hour, depending on the subject.

I have three younger siblings, and ever since they started first grade, I have been helping them whenever needed. It did not take very long for me to I realize how much I was enjoying it. Throughout high school and college, I then spent lots of time helping/inofficially tutoring friends and classmates in math and science related subject. I was also the co-founder of the German club at Miami University, where we provided tutoring for German students of every level.

Give multiple tutors a try at first and see which one you can work with the best and that best understands your thought processes and how to help you. I think it is very important to find someone that has the flexibility and understanding of the subject to explain it in a way that works for you.

If you have specific questions about a certain topic or problem, I would definitely write those down and make sure you really get an answer that makes sense to you. Other than that, be honest with yourself about your skills and knowledge. Let your tutor know what your concerns are about the subject/topic are so that they know where to start and can work with you to achieve your goals.
