ALWays Right Tutoring
About
As a Math instructor educating the whole person is important. Whether it is one subject or several , customer service , individualized attention and pacing are key. Many tutors know the content, and are good at delivering it. Some of us stand out in supporting the student and building relationships that build confidence as we go. I enjoy people and I enjoy what I do.
There are many enjoyable aspects to one on one instruction. Being able to meet the student is an interchange. Seeing the student progress and change a discouraged attitude to a positive outlook is rewarding. Having the experience of supporting many students helps in improving teaching as well as learning.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process of working with a new student is to get to know the students goals, past successes and frustrations. Also getting to know a little bit about the students personality, style of learning , likes, dislikes and deal breakers. Knowig the students past times is also insight into their personality.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The background education that I have is a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science with an A average in Calculus I, II, III , Advanced Calculus , all areas of Algebra at the college and High School. Working in school districts have afforded me the oppurtunity to have training for HQT (Highly Qualified Teacher) in Math and Science grades 7-12. I have been licensed in these subjetcs since 1997. I have received ongoing training and schooling over several years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The pricing system used is $40 for each hour for each student for one on one. In groups of two to three the rate is $35 per hour for each student. Four or more students at the same time, the cost is $25 per hour per student (maximum group size will be six).
How did you get started teaching?
Teaching was not on my radar , however it has proved to be extremely rewarding. I learned of a teaching job fair some years ago and went. There I was able to apply for a teaching license and have availed myself of many teaching oppurtunities around the country.
What types of students have you worked with?
Students across the autism spectrum, those with learning challenges, under-represented minorities, students from the United States and other nationalities, has been just of the tip of the iceberg of student oppurtunities I have had.
Age levels have been first grade through college and beyond
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Advice I would give to a student looking for someone in my area of expertise is, like with anything else, someone charging the highest hourly rate is not necessarily the most qualified teacher. Also I agree that interviewing and asking questions of the tutor, and references can be requested. Most of all have a positve and respectful attidue towards the tutor and confidence in their abilities. This contributes to a conducive learning environment.
