I'm a former high school Algebra teacher with 3 years of teaching experience. I left teaching a year ago, but I'm still very much a "math nerd" who derives joy from seeing kids' faces light up when they finally solve that difficult equation that they've been angsting over.
Although I've since left the classroom, my passion for teaching and for math still burn bright. Many people, including my former students, assume that math is not needed for their careers, and often ask, "When will I ever use this in life?" While Algebra equations and geometric sequences don't appear plainly and directly in one's day-to-day routine, the ability think logically and rationalize problem-solving are fundamental skills of success.
