About
I studied math in college, and I've been teaching upper level math for 5 years now. My favorite part of teaching is working one-on-one with students and seeing those lightbulb moments! I care about students knowing the "why" behind the concepts. I think math concepts are accessible to all, and I like to break down complicated problems into bite sized pieces so that students can truly understand the ideas.
I love teaching because I love people. I want to see each student succeed and gain the reasoning skills that are so important in life.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to take some time to get to know the student, learn his/her strengths and weaknesses, and his/her best learning style. Once I have a good sense of the student's needs, I try to balance meeting the immediate needs (homework help, test preparation, etc.) with addressing the deeper needs (missing skills, conceptual misunderstandings, etc.)
