Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will map out a schedule with tutoring dates and work around the student's busy schedule. Usually, a good study schedule will involve 20-40 hours of preparation, most done by the student on their own. I meet with students weekly to review actual ACT or SAT questions and review specific test strategies
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
How did you get started teaching?
What types of students have you worked with?
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Be realistic in your goals, Do you really believe you can achieve a 1500 or 34 on the standardized tests? If so, are you willing to put in the effort to get there? Any tutor can only help so much. A great deal of the preparation will be self-study motivation. Ask for a weekly schedule with daily assignments to keep you focused.
Also, work with someone who specializes in ACT and SAT test preparation. Be wary of someone who says they can tutor 15 different standardized tests and 20 subjects.
