Extremely patient, enthusiastic and motivated to help struggling learners achieve their academic goals. Able to assist students in making progress in all areas. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Upon meeting a new student, I administer a brief assessment to determine strengths and weaknesses. I ask them what are their goals and any specific areas in which they need help.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 30+ years teaching experience and a Masters Degree in Special Education. In addition to classroom experience, I have also tutored in an after-school program and have done 1-1 tutoring. I have mentored new teachers and supervised assistant teachers and Special Education grad students.

My fee is determined by school grade level and duration of session.
How did you get started teaching?
I worked in a program that serviced learning disabled, emotionally disturbed and autistic children while attending college. This experience led me to decide to go on to graduate school to obtain a Masters Degree in Special Education.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students with learning disabilities, emotional problems, speech impairments and autistic children. I also have experience teaching students in general education.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Upon returning from a week long vacation, one of my students looked at me and said "home sweet home". Apparently the environment that was created in the classroom had made this student feel extremely comfortable and at ease enabling them to make progress and accomplish their goals.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask to spend time with the teacher at an informal session to determine if you can relate to this person and feel comfortable working with him/her.
