About

I have an associate's degree in child psychology which has given me a wealth of in-depth knowledge about how students best learn.

Part of my degree included teaching enrichment to 4-5 year olds. I would also perform various skills assessments under the guidance of various psychologists and educational professionals.

I've worked with many children with learning disabilities and I am well trained in how to create a nurturing environment for students to learn.

I am currently pursuing a Neuroscience degree with an English minor at Davidson College. I am a freshman PreMed student and I am currently training to be an EMT. I have CPR and Basic Life Support Certification.

I have been tutoring for the past 4 years. In high school, I was on the high honors track and I took every AP class my high school offered. I am well versed in AP tests and I have tutored many high school AP students. Having taken AP classes recently in addition to currently being a college student I am very well versed in the curriculum and learning expectations for students.

I also do ACT tutoring and college counseling, I got a 36 on my ACT when I took it in 2019. I have been tutoring students for the ACT and helping them get into college for the past year. Last year I applied and got into my dream school and I am committed to helping my students achieve their dreams as well.

Additionally, I am well versed in various scholarships and I help students apply for scholarships and jobs to help pay for their colleges. I was the recipient of 5 scholarships my senior year of high school and I have helped many students win scholarships that allowed them to pay their tuition.

I love helping kids discover their passion for learning. I don't just want my students to get good grades and pass their tests - I want them to enjoy the process and learn that they are truly smart and talented individuals. I believe all students are intelligent and capable and I want to show my students that with the right tools they have the power to succeed.

My favorite part of tutoring is when my students take the tools I have shown them and start applying them on their own. My goal for all my students is to eventually be able to study and work on their own.

Reina started working with my son a month ago. He is in 8th grade and has ADHD which has made getting him the right tutor difficult to say the least. Reina has been excellent with him, he really trusts and connects with her. His english and history grades picked up from almost failing to Bs. She is truly one of a kind!

Reina started working with my daughter (9th grade) in January. Since then her essay grades have gone from Cs to As! I am very pleased with her. They have been working together on zoom which I was hesitant about at first but if it works it works. Reina has been very flexible and respectful in all of my interactions with her. Would recommend!

Reina has been working with my 12 year old son for about a year. He was having trouble keeping his grades up at school. At first we hired her to help him keep up in his algebra class but we ended up having her help him with all of his classes. My son loves working with her, he went from nearly getting all Cs to all As and even better than that hes actually excited to go to class now. I would highly recommend Reina as a tutor

Reina is a very sweet young girl, she worked with my youngest daughter (7 years old) who was behind her class in reading level. Reina came over every week to do enrichment with my daughter and now she is at the highest reading level. We hired Reina 2 years ago when we heard about her from another family. She is very good with our daughter and I cannot recommend her enough!

Frequently asked questions

I like to start off by getting to know my student and asking them about how they like to learn. I normally ask about their best and worst teachers in order to gauge what does and doesn't work for their particular learning style.

With younger children I ask about their favorite stories or hobbies so I can incorporate them into interactive learning plans.

I start at $60 an hour, however, I am flexible with all of my students. I understand that price varies depending on the financial situation of my various students and I am committed to working with the families of my students to ensure that I can still work with their children.

I am normally paid on Venmo or Paypal. I take cash and checks as well.

I started a 3-year program to get my associate's degree in child psychology when I was a sophomore in high school. As part of the program, I was assigned a different child every year to provide enrichment to and track development for. I found I had a real knack for teaching so I decided to start tutoring kids in my town's high school and middle school.

I have worked with a lot of students with various learning disabilities as part of my associate's degree program, namely ADHD, ODD, and Dyslexia.

I have worked with a lot of AP and honors high school students - helping them with class material or to study for tests. Similarly, I've worked with middle school and elementary school students - providing enrichment and assistance with classes.
