Gradmar has helped me so much in AP Calc AB and my test grades have improved significantly because of his tutoring. He does a really good job of explaining concepts and the logic behind them. During sessions, he asks a lot of questions to make sure I understand and is able to answer any questions I have in-depth. I would definitely recommend him!

Frequently asked questions

I start by evaluating the student’s current knowledge and understanding of the subject through informal discussions and diagnostic tests. This helps identify their strengths and areas for improvement. Together with the student (and parents, if applicable), we set clear, achievable goals. These goals are tailored to the student’s academic needs and personal aspirations. My tutoring sessions are interactive, encouraging students to ask questions and participate actively.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Mathematics at The Ohio State University. My education has provided me with a deep theoretical understanding and practical expertise in a wide range of mathematical topics, from basic algebra and calculus, to abstract algebra and real analysis. This rigorous academic training ensures I am well-equipped to teach mathematics at various levels, enhancing my ability to deliver a high-quality educational experience to all my students.
Yes, I have a standard pricing system for my lessons, designed to accommodate various learning needs and budgets: Standard Rate: $50 per hour. Bi-weekly Package*: 2 sessions per week at $40/hour each. Full Monthly Package*: 3 or more sessions per week at $35/hour each. *Rates apply after the First Time Bonus has been redeemed and require a commitment to at least a month of sessions. These packages are designed to provide flexibility and to support students who are looking for consistent, progressive improvement in their mathematical skills. The longer commitment not only helps students achieve more significant results but also allows for a more personalized and adaptive learning approach as we progress through the curriculum together. These packages are flexible and can be adjusted based on the student's specific needs and goals. Discounts are aimed at making the sessions more affordable for students who engage in long-term learning commitments, ensuring they can access quality education in a financially sustainable way.
I started teaching math during high school when I tutored my peers. This early experience sparked a passion for helping others understand and appreciate the beauty and utility of mathematics. My enthusiasm for teaching grew as I entered college, where I not only continued tutoring but also began participating in and presenting at various mathematics conferences. These presentations, some of which have been recognized with awards, enhanced my ability to communicate complex concepts effectively.
Throughout my undergraduate studies, I expanded my tutoring scope to include a wide range of math, including college-level mathematics, further honing my instructional skills. This foundational experience was instrumental in securing my current graduate standing, which involves significant Teaching Assistant (TA) responsibilities at The Ohio State University.
Before starting your search, clearly define what you hope to achieve with a tutor. Are you looking to improve your grades, prepare for exams, or deepen your understanding of mathematical concepts? Your goals will guide the selection process. Ensure that the tutor has a strong educational background in mathematics. A tutor with a degree in mathematics or a related field is preferable. Also, consider whether they have any teaching credentials or are involved in ongoing mathematical research, as these can enhance the tutoring experience.
Before initiating a conversation with a potential tutor or teacher, students should thoroughly consider their own needs, goals, and circumstances. This preparation helps ensure that the discussion is fruitful and that they can assess whether the tutor or teacher is a good fit. Some examples include: What are my main challenges in the subject? What is my preferred learning style?
