About

While I enjoy the challenges of working as a professional engineer, there are not many opportunities to spread my enthusiasm about the beauty of mathematics or the interesting aspects of many STEM fields. I enjoy helping students sate their curiosity in many STEM fields.

Like many engineers, I enjoy the overlap between mathematics and the physical world. I like learning how a mathematical model can approximate the physical environment and I enjoy trying to understand what different equations are trying to explain. I enjoy sharing this passion with others, especially those who are willing to be receptive towards it. I also like witnessing a young learner finally put the pieces together and understand a concept. The look on their face as it finally clicks into place is a great physical reminder of our progress. Personally, I’m adept at logically working through difficult problems. A favorite challenge of mine is coming up with various analogies for complex intangible topics, formulas, or phenomena, that will resonate with the personal experiences of the student I’m working with.

Frequently asked questions

While I am new to tutoring, I plan to take a logical approach. The first session will largely be me getting to know the student, what their goals are, where they might be struggling and a little bit about them personally. Then we will dive right in, targeting the needed topics with notes and practice questions. Initial session progress will determine the need and direction of future session.

While I have had no formal teaching experience, in middle/high school, college, and the workplace, I’ve often helped friends and colleagues with Math understanding and problem-solving. I have good people skills  and have often presented at both internal and external design reviews.

Yes, $30 for the initial 1 hour lesson and $40 for every 1 hour lesson after.

I've always had an interest in teaching and friends thought I would be good at it.Also, I wanted to complement my professional engineering career, which has been mostly “work from home” since the pandemic, by working face-to-face to help students learn.

Find someone who you think you could respect and have as a role model. I think that most people tend to try harder when they want to impress someone.

I find that there are often specific road blocks that prevent our growth as a person. Usually they fall into the following categories: motivation, time, materials/resources, information, or overwhelm
