About
Hello, my name is Yangchen Thakarpa. I am looking for a part-time job or full-time at tutoring math for kids up to high school. Currently, I am looking to explore my career opportunities at my college. I am majoring in computer science but I would like to switch it to something else that I am and feel more passionate. I have many strengths and skills to contribute such as problem solving skills, critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and time management. Lastly, I would like to say that I am able to host tutoring at my apartment or travel to you if it's not further than 3-5 miles. My schedule varies so feel free to reach out! Thank you.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will need materials from the student. For instance, all of the glasswork notes, homework assigned by the teacher and everything done by the teacher will be revised every time he or she comes to me or vice versa. There will be homework and pop quizzes from my side. In addition, for tests practice will be started three days prior to it. And the end of two weeks there will be an exam for all the materials covered each time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the students place and I am also working my way to get a bachelors degree.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Each student will be charged 40/hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I was inspired by my chemistry professor. He's a really hard worker and students looked up to him each time they came to class. I decided to teach after classes and saw how much the students needed help.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who are autistic, clowns, students who are athletes and can't focus, and those who are really smart as well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was tutoring a child who is 5 years old. She learned how to pronounce each word that I taught her carefully within 6 days. She remembered all the letters. That was an event that I was really fond of and also proud of.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise a student to get a tutor who pushes them, and encourages them everyday. Someone who asks about their day in each class, and the level of difficulty, and any problems they had even while not getting paid and tutored.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Only questions that can lead you to a successful career and get flying colors in school should be asked.
