Math, ELA, Spanish Tutor
About
Hi, I'm Clara! I am a 19 year old New York native, currently in my freshman year of college in Oberlin, Ohio. I am majoring in Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies, with minors in Politics and Comparative American Studies. In school, I loved reading, writing, math, and Spanish. Some numerical qualifications I have include scoring over 550 on my SHSAT and getting a 1540 on my SAT, as well as getting above an 85% on all my Regents, 4s on the AP Lang, AP Lit, and AP Calc (AB) tests, and a 5 on the AP Psych exam.
Since I started school, I have often been called upon to explain things to classmates and siblings. I tutored kindergartners in Spanish for the GO Project the summer between 9th and 10th grade and I was a peer tutor in Algebra 2 in 10th grade. I enjoy learning, and I think that being able to teach others is a way of continuing that.
I love learning and I think that to be able to fully know something you must be able to teach it someone else.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to find out my student's personal learning style and see if I can teach in a way that complements that. It's frustrating when a teacher is trying to get you to do something their way. I like to make sure it's a teaching and a learning experience for both of us.

How did you get started teaching?
I've always enjoyed school and learning and when I was younger I wanted to be a teacher. Although my ambitions have changed since then, I still view teaching as an important step in my own learning process.
