Math's Tutor
About
I love helping people, and I have a passion for mathematics. Putting two and two together, tutoring / teaching seemed like the perfect thing.
I am a certified Substitute teacher for Washoe County School District specifically in math, and I have a Bachelor's degree in Math from UNR.
I look forward to helping you succeed in your classes or broaden your math knowledge :)

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like getting know my students before jumping into the material. Asking simple questions like what their favorite thing about math is, if they like sports, certain TV series, etc. See if we share common interests to make the process as easy as possible on both parties.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a double Bachelor's from UNR in Secondary Education and Mathematics.
I was part of the NevadaTeach program at UNR, which is a teacher training program, for 4.5 years.
I have completed a 14-week internship as a teacher at Galena HS
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My typical rate is $25/hr. We can start with 1 hour sessions, however if a student needs sessions longer than 4 hours, my rate will increase to $30/hr for that day.
How did you get started teaching?
I realized I loved teaching and wanted to become a teacher when I was 12 years old. I got started with teaching through the NevadaTeach program at UNR.
What types of students have you worked with?
Generally high school students, however I will also accept middle school students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice here would be to communicate with your tutor with the specifc material you need help with in advance so they can be prepared for you with high quality lesson and activities to solidify understanding of the material covered.
Be friendly, be prepared yourself. Have a good attitude towards it. I know sometimes parents want the tutoring more than the student, but it is important to understand that tutors take time out of their days to help you individually, so it is important to stay kind and respectful.
