English as a Second Language, U.S. naturalization and professional license tests, TOEFL, accent reduction, professional and APA/MLA style paper copy editing, PSAT/SAT/ACT English preparation and essay, college coaching/advising and college application essays. Also instructs regular and AP US and AP World History, and Social Studies. $25 per hour in Green Valley home office (Henderson, near intersection of Green Valley Parkway & Robindale Road).
I love to help students quickly improve their English skills, and realize that often just a few changes in writing or speaking can lead to successful results on a regular basis. Many people seeking English tutoring consider themselves a 'math person' rather than an 'English person'; equalizing the two skills as much as possible is important to prepare for higher education, performing well on any type of standardized test and potentially being promoted at work. I genuinely enjoy hearing about rising grades, seeing improved test results and being a major motivator for the success of my students of all ages.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Please contact me at (702) 914-8986 to schedule a complimentary meeting during which we'll discuss a plan of how to quickly improve the English/writing skills of your child or you. This meeting will last approximately 45-60 minutes. Tutoring is one-on-one and highly effective; I assist students with English homework, ACT/PSAT/SAT studies, writing college application essays, reading out loud, writing standard 5 paragraph essays and longer papers, as well as vocubulary, copy editing and writing in APA/MLA styles. Also tutor TOEFL and naturalization test.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Las Vegas college professor since 2001, English and American History.

The fee is $25, pay as you go. There are no contacts; regular schedules can be set up for every week or on demand, when it is needed. Tutoring begins daily at 12:30 pm, seven days a week.
How did you get started teaching?
Engish tutoring began when I was added to the list of recommended tutors for the Clark County School District. I began teaching college in 2001 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, 2002 at the College of Southern Nevada.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with students of all ages, from kindergarten children to retired adults. My students represent a wide range of ethnicities and nationalities, which is one of my favorite parts of tutoring- letting them teach me about other culture. I have assisted adults with the TOEFL and U.S. Naturalization tests, State of Nevada Corrections test, professional level copy editing, college course homework, accent reduction and overall writing skills. K-12 tutoring often includes assisting with homework, essay writing, vocabulary at all levels, reading, standardized test preparation, college application essays, creating writing skills and brainstorming for ideas.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am always happy to attend Runnin' Rebel sports, as I'm a big UNLV supporter.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise students to seek a tutor/teacher with an outgoing, patient personality, as well as years of experience in the area they tutor, preferably professional. The tutor should be reasonably priced, have flexible hours of availability, and be able to create a rapport quickly with the students. Of utmost importance is that the tutor can be trusted.
