Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin with a 3-step approach. First, I like to get to know the student. Their likes, their dislikes, hobbies, interests etc. This helps prevent an uncomfortable working space. Next, we look at why they struggle and what they excel at. Finally, I come up with a method tailored to them so that they can succeed. This could be anything from lecturing, to hands on work, to breaking down YouTube videos on the subject. I will strive to do what works best for the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 2 BS degrees. One in Applied Meteorology and one in Computational Mathematics. I have an MS in Professional Meteorology. I have 2 years of PhD work in Earth and Atmospheric science where I also lectured Physical Geography classes, which is an applied physics discipline. I am currently working towards a PhD in Statistics.
