I am a Middle School Learning Specialist and Elementary and Middle School Special Educator. I work with Primary, Intermediate, HS students and adults in the following areas:
Phonics using an Orton Gillingham Program which integrates reading, handwriting and spelling.
Reading Fluency and Comprehension.
Good Sentence Writing and Grammar
Writing with Precise Language
Persuasive Paragraph and Essay Writing
Organization
Pre-Algebra Math
Nothing makes me happier than seeing my students gain new abilities which make them more effective, higher performing independent learners. I use a lot of solid strategies, multi-sensory activities, and games to teach and reinforce skills.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We first talk by phone and get a sense of student's strengths, challenges and goals. The first meeting is then a combination of a diagnostic to see the present level and anecdotal reporting. We then set goals and objectives and monitor our work based on these.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 12 years experience as a Middle School Learning Specialist and Elementary/Middle School Special Educator and am trained in Reading Reform Foundation's Orton-Gillingham Multi-sensory Phonetics Program, Teacher's College Reading and Writing Workshop.
