I have been tutoring for over 8 years and love helping students individualize their learning so they are engaged and become successful. I have my Masters Degree in Reading and am a certified K-6 teacher. My passion truly is ensuring that children become confident and achieve their academic goals. I also pride myself on keeping an open-communication with parents in order to have a team effort when it comes to your child. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I normally start by assessing them in order to find their independent level of instruction. This helps me to figure out where to start their instruction. I never want to give students work that is too hard or too easy where they are not learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified K-6 general education teacher, 5-8 ELA teacher and have a Reading Specialist certification.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $60-$65 per hour if I am tutoring 1-2 times per week. If a family needs me to tutor multiple times per week or have multiple children, my rate can be negotiated.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all different types of students. Some were behind in their grade level and needed extra support, while others needed enrichment. I also have experience working with students with ADD/ADHD.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Advice I could give to a student would be to look for someone who will fit your own personal needs. A teacher needs to be willing to be flexible in order to meet your academic needs in order to reach your goals.
